Making your own portable phone charger

My husband decided to be a Little Green Person today! Instead of buying a phone charger that runs on batteries for the field this coming week, he decided to make his own with an old toy that my son doesn't play with. I'm not entirely sure exactly how he did it, but here is the final result!
